AMERICAN SALAD
 Blanch the celery root in boiling salted water with a little lemon juice added.  Cook for 15 minutes --- it must not overcook.  Peel the apples, core them and dice them.  Place them in a bowl and add lemon juice.  Cut the bananas in slices, add to the apples and sprinkle with more lemon juice.   Peel the oranges, including all the pith and section them.  Put aside.  Place the lettuce in a salad bowl, with the apples, bananas, celery root, and orange sections.  Serve with a mayonnaise lightened with some lemon juice and flavored with Tabasco.

 

Ingredients: 
2 Granny Smith apples
1/2 lb celery root, diced
3 oranges
3 bananas
juice 3 lemons
1 lettuce, rinsed and dried
salt, pepper

For the mayonnaise
1 egg yolk
2 cups cooking oil
Tabasco
juice 1 lemon

Tip: 
You can use the orange juice that comes from the sections, instead of the lemon juice,  to flavor the mayonnaise.
